In 1902, a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck developed a unique approach to tempering steel, resulting in the creation of the very first Buck Knife. Using worn-out file blades as raw material, Hoyt handcrafted each knife, a skill that was greatly valued during World War II. After relocating to San Diego, California with his wife Daisy, Hoyt's eldest son Al continued the family's knife-making tradition, setting up H.H. Buck and Son. Following his father's passing, Al incorporated Buck Knives, Inc. in 1961, and introduced his son Chuck to the business at an early age. In 1964, the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter revolutionized the knife industry, solidifying Buck Knives as a leader in the field.
Over the years, Chuck worked his way up to serve as President and CEO, before passing on the reins to his son, CJ, in 1999. Chuck remained active as Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2015, while Lori, his wife, now serves on the Board of Directors and continues to be actively involved in Buck promotional events throughout the U.S.
Buck Knives are known for their durability and versatility, designed to withstand tough conditions and stay sharp for extended periods. The boning blade, made of S35VN steel, is hand-sharpened and ideal for processing game and performing various tasks, making it great for hunting, camping, bushcrafting, fishing, hiking, and overlanding. The knife comes with a lightweight polypropylene sheath for convenient carrying, and the contoured Micarta handle provides added grip and ergonomics. Additionally, Buck's signature Paul Bos heat treat process ensures that each blade is tempered to the appropriate Rockwell Hardness, providing longer edge life and ease of resharpening. Every Buck knife is also backed by Buck's Forever Warranty, guaranteeing it will be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the knife.
