In April 2007, after our Ontario contract ended, we made the decision to produce a higher quality line of knives that were beyond the mass production capabilities of Ontario. The result was the creation of the new ESEE Line (formerly RAT Cutlery), which is considered to be of "mid-tech" quality in terms of manufacturing procedures and overall quality. This upgrade means that you will notice improvements in sheathing, fit, finish, and detail on all ESEE knives. Importantly, ESEE is now able to respond quickly to new product development and make upgrades to existing lines.

All of our designs are highly desirable for field cutlery, delivering toughness, comfort, and cutting efficiency. Unlike many other manufacturers, ESEE does not simply release a new knife because it looks good on paper. Instead, we personally field test each new design prototype before it is put into production. After making final design tweaks and putting the knife into production, we continue to test the design in field outings across the United States and in jungle survival classes in the Peruvian Amazon. Additionally, we have users around the world who test our knives and provide feedback.
